The acceptable loss rate happened before we even left the parking lot. Two people didn’t want to risk the hike being extended, and they made the right call. As usual, the hike went from being listed as 10 miles to 12 miles.  The seven of us set out on the out-and-back trek to Lost Lake, then continued to the bridge at Middle Branch Pine Creek. The trip was filled with people falling and wardrobe malfunctions, making for another fantastic adventure – beaver dam crossings, wobbly rocks, and buzzing swarms of deer flies included.
